It's not just that I can't talk. It's that I can't be me. I can't tell you what's on my mind. I can't tell you what I like, what I don't. I can't make a random comment or start a conversation.
My mind goes blank. My body feels tense. A am paralysed inside and you don't see it. I can say some things to you, so all you see is that, me talking to you. So in those silences how are you to know that I'm screaming at you?
It's not just that I don't speak. It's that when I'm around you I feel ill. I feel something close up in my throat and I know. I know that there may be words desperate to escape me that will remain trapped inside.
